General Information About Singulair 5mg :
What is: Singulair 5mg is used to prevent asthma attacks and in long-term management of asthma in children and adults. The medication is often prescribed for various allergies as well and it is available in the form of cherry chewable tablets, oral granules, and regular tablets.
How to use: take Singulair 5mg as your doctor has advised. In most cases, a single Singulair 5mg tablet is prescribed to children between the ages of six and fourteen, and the adults are prescribed 10mg per day. Children from 12 months to 5 years of age are normally prescribed granules or chewable tablets at 4mg daily dose. However, you should take the medication as your healthcare provider has directed, stick to the recommended dose, and take your medication even if you are feeling better. For immediate relief from asthma attacks, you need to have a separate, emergency medication.
Side effects: severe side effects are rare, but possible. If you or your child experience mood or behavior changes such as anxiety, hostility, agitation, depression, disorientation, bad or vivid dreams, sleepwalking, tremor, suicidal thoughts and actions, you need to inform your healthcare provider immediately. However, most patients tolerate the Singulair 5mg tablets well and the most common side effects that the medication causes are sore throat, fever, upper respiratory infection, headache, flu, runny nose, ear infection, and diarrhea. Missed dose :if you miss a dose, take a Singulair 5mg tablet as soon as you remember, but if it is almost time for your next does, then skip the missed one. Do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed dose!
Storage:store the Singulair 5mg tablets in their original container, away from the reach of children, and away from heat and moist. Store the medication at temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C).
